Biography

Arya Jadhav is Visiting Faculty in the College of Computing at Grand Valley State University, where she brings an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research. Her instructional areas include computing fundamentals, data analysis, data visualization, machine learning, and bioinformatics. Her teaching emphasizes real-world problem solving, cross-disciplinary inquiry, and conceptual fluency over rote memorization.

Her research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence, medicine, and human cognition. She investigates both the applications and unintended consequences of machine learning in diagnostic contexts, including early detection of leptospirosis. Her recent theoretical work, currently under peer review, examines how prolonged use of large language models may impact abstraction, memory, and cognitive agency.

Beyond the classroom, she mentors students through the Seidman Mentorship Program and contributes to GVSU’s Health and Bioinformatics Journal Club. She also engages in public climate advocacy through the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, guest lectures at Hamilton middle schools, and is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. Outside of academia, she is a practicing visual artist and serves as an art director at a summer art camp for children, reflecting her commitment to creativity and mentorship across disciplines.
