GVSU College of Computing

Eric Maino created this scholarship to encourage and acknowledge students who exhibit exceptional relational skills in addition to the knowledge acquired in their educational pursuits. He is especially interested in supporting students who have developed a thoughtful, innovative vision of how to use new/emerging technology to benefit society and have taken preliminary steps to implement that vision.

What role do you see computing playing in society and how do you see yourself participating in that role? Your answer should address all three points below:

1. Describe either (or both)

• your vision for using your computing skills and knowledge to benefit society; or 
• your visions for integrating new technology into your chosen field. 

2. Describe any groundwork you’ve laid toward this vision (other than simply taking college courses).  For example, discuss any relevant extracurricular and/or volunteer activities that you participate in.

3. Describe any other ways you are currently serving your academic and professional communities.
