Biography

Dr. Mostafa El-Said is the founding Chair of the Department of Computer Science within the College of Computing at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) and also serves as the Director of Assessment and Accreditation for the College of Computing. His research focuses on advancing the security and privacy of connected systems, including developing anti-AI intrusion detection systems for vehicular networks and designing privacy-aware authentication schemes for Internet of Vehicles (IoV) systems.

Dr. El-Said is an active contributor to the computing field. He serves as a panelist for the National Science Foundation’s IUSE program and has held editorial roles with prestigious journals such as IEEE Computer, Elsevier Ad Hoc Networks, the Urban Transportation Journal, and The International Journal of Learning. He is also an ABET Program Evaluator and a dedicated member of IEEE and the Computer Society.

At GVSU, Dr. El-Said teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in networking, system security, and wireless communications. Outside the classroom, he enjoys gardening and spending time with his wife and two sons.
