Biography

Dr. Tiehang Duan is an expert in machine learning, brain-computer interfaces, and medical informatics. His research focuses on decoding brain signals to develop assistive technologies, such as brain-controlled wheelchairs and exoskeletons. He previously worked as a research scientist at Meta AI and held visiting scholar roles at West Virginia University and the Mayo Clinic. His work has been widely published in top-tier journals and conferences, and he is passionate about advancing AI-driven solutions that improve lives and inspire the next generation of innovators.

Outside of academia, Duan enjoys a variety of sports, including basketball, table tennis, billiards and bowling, and is looking forward to immersing himself into the Greater Grand Rapids tech and research community.
