Biography
Dr. Xiang Cao’s research explores data storage, Internet of Things (IoT), edge computing, and vehicular networks. His work has earned multiple awards, including Best Paper honors at both the 2021 and 2022 IEEE Annual Computing and Communication Workshop and Conference in the Cloud Computing and Data Center Systems category. He also received GVSU’s Catalyst Grant for Research and Creativity for his project on data storage in edge computing.
Dr. Cao is an active scholarly reviewer for leading journals and conferences, such as IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, Pervasive and Mobile Computing, and the IEEE International Conference on Communications. He mentors student researchers, including an award-winning Honors Senior Project.
In the classroom, Dr. Cao teaches distributed systems, pervasive computing, database design, and computer networking. Outside of academia, he enjoys reading history and traveling to natural scenic destinations.
