Frequently Asked Questions - Fall 2015 Bus Changes

Why are changes being made to Route 50 again this year?

The route changes for Fall 2016 were made in part for safety reasons and to better serve many of our parking areas. We are again directly serving the parking locations of Walker Fire Station in Standale and the Seward Ramp on Pew Campus. For the safety of our riders the decision was made to revert back to the Front Ave stop - the lighting is on 24/7 and the street crossing on Mt Vernon has less traffic.

Route 50 will still run from Allendale Campus (at Kirkhof) to Pew Campus (at CHS) with no need for bus transfer.

How can I get to/from Central Station now?

Transfer opportunities include easy transfer to/from Central Station via Silver Line (along Monroe and Michigan), Route 9 (at Seward/Lake Michigan Dr), Route 12 (at Fulton/Mt. Vernon) and Route 7 (at Meijer). Please visit the Rapid Connect website to help plan your commute. *All Rapid routes including Silver Line are free with GVSU ID

What's happening to other bus stops?

Notable route changes are at the Walker Fire Station (stop moved behind WFS and 50 no longer stops at Lake Michigan Dr. at Kinney) and at Pew Campus (routing goes north on Seward to pick up at Seward Parking Ramp, and comes back south to pick up on Front Ave between DeVos Center and Eberhard Center) and route through northern downtown to CHS building. There is no longer an Eastbound Monroe/Louis Route 50 stop, but the 50 will be stopping at this intersection Westbound.

When do changes start?

Route changes will start August 21. The Fall 2016 Bus Schedule will begin on August 29. Click here for details.
