Ryan Slusarzyk, '08

Ryan Slusarzyk, ’08 has an attitude and charisma that is contagious. He graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2008 with a degree in Marketing and Sales and Management. He is a natural leader, passionate about the community in which he lives, and represents the qualities that define a Laker for a Lifetime.

Slusarzyk is the Vice President and the youngest member of the Seidman College of Business Alumni Association Board. He is also a member of the Grand Rapids Community Foundation, the Van Andel Institute, and the Spectrum Health Foundation Council. Slusarzyk is a volunteer for PRConnect, where he works with the Pine Rest Foundation to raise awareness and break down the stigmas of behavioral health in West Michigan.

As a student at Grand Valley, Slusarzyk was the team captain of the GVSU Co-ed Cheerleading team and a founding father of Sigma Pi Fraternity International. He received the Chairman and Brother of the Year award from Sigma Pi in 2008.

Stepping in as Leading For Our Kids (LFOK) Chair for the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in 2012, Slusarzyk became a member of a board comprised entirely of young professional volunteers. Within this position, he was able to recruit new board members, set high expectations, and foster a culture to empower innovation to reach the board’s new goals.

In 2010 Slusarzyk was named one of the “40 under 40” by the Grand Rapids Business Journal.  He received the Outstanding Alumni “Up & Coming” Award from the Seidman College of Business in 2014, and was an Emerging Leader Nominee by the American Hotel & Lodging Association in 2009 & 2013.

As of April 2014, Slusarzyk became the Global Project Manager for the Amway Corporation, where he processes new product development, controls costs, drives decision making, and applies risk management and contingency planning for the Nutrilite brand. Before joining the team at Amway, he was the Corporate Business Travel Sales Manager for the Amway Hotel Collection.

Slusarzyk currently resides in Grand Rapids.
