Jennifer Ohman '02 & '16

Jennifer Ohman, ’02 & ’16, is a Nurse Practitioner at LifeCircles PACE. PACE, or Program for All Inclusive Care of the Elderly, is a nationwide program that offers comprehensive interdisciplinary services to frail older adults who wish to remain living in the community rather than a nursing facility. These services include medical care, social services, rehabilitation, home healthcare, nutrition support, transportation, and even a day center which provides access to a community of peers, programming, nutritious meals, and onsite healthcare services.

Ohman earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Grand Valley’s Kirkhof College of Nursing (KCON) in 2002. In 2016, she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice, also from KCON. Ohman is a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan, with both state and national certifications as an Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner.

She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association, and Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners. She has published numerous scholarly articles and regularly attends conferences in her field.

In addition to her hard work within the nursing field, Ohman also finds the time to give back to her community. She is on the St. Jude Catholic Church Stewardship Committee and the St. Colette Catholic Church Youth Ministry Adult Team, and she co-chairs the Infirmary at the annual Catholic Youth Organization Conference.

She also regularly volunteers for her alma mater. She has been a KCON Magazine Advisory Board Member, GVSU Graduate Student Association Member, and KCON Graduate Student Association Board Member. She currently is a member of the GVSU Alumni Association, helping out at annual events like Homecoming, Community Outreach Week, and Freshmen Move In. She is also the KCON Alumni Board Vice President of Education and Special Events.

In 2018, Ohman received the Alumni Service Award. The honor is awarded to an alumnus or alumna who demonstrates outstanding service to the university and the Alumni Association. The awardee is selected by GVSU Alumni Relations staff. The award is presented at the annual Volunteer Celebration in May.
