David Baker, '73
After earning his bachelor’s degree in philosophy David Baker, ’73 moved out West to California. There, he would earn his masters of architecture from the University of California, Berkley in 1982. Later that same year, he founded David Baker + Partners Architectural Firm where he and the firm have since been honored with more than 140 awards including Hearthstone Builders Humanitarian Award and six national American Institute of Architects (AIA) awards. Baker was also recently inducted into the Wm. S. Marvin Builders Hall of Fame for Design Excellence.
In addition to award-winning design and architecture, Baker has also taught at the University of California, Berkley, California College of the Arts, and Tulane University in New Orleans. He has also been visiting chair for the University of Oklahoma and visiting critic at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Baker holds memberships on the boards for San Francisco Planning + Urban Research Association (SPUR) and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.
He currently resides in San Francisco, California.
