Overview

Grand Valley offers a graduate certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) designed to address the critical need for advanced mental health care providers. This hybrid program is ideal for registered nurses who have completed a master's or doctoral degree in nursing and are looking to specialize in psychiatric and mental health care. The certificate aims to equip nurses with the skills necessary to provide comprehensive mental health services, including counseling and medication management.

[The curriculum consists of 22 credits and includes both online and in-person components. Students will study topics such as advanced pathophysiology, pharmacology, physical assessment, and various mental health treatment modalities. These courses cover essential areas like understanding mental health disorders, developing treatment plans, and gaining practical experience through clinical hours.

Application Deadline

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but the fully completed application must be submitted a minimum of 30 days prior to the intended semester of enrollment. The $30 nonrefundable application fee is waived if the applicant has previously applied to GVSU.
