Overview

Grand Valley's Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) program is designed to prepare professional nurses as advanced generalists who can lead within the healthcare system. The M.S.N. includes clinical immersion in healthcare settings and is available to students in several states outside of Michigan. The program is tailored for working nurses, offering flexibility and support through dedicated placement coordinators and academic advisors.

The curriculum aims to develop leadership skills needed to apply evidence-based practices in patient care and coordinate healthcare delivery to enhance patient outcomes. Key topics include nursing in politics, leadership, and the application of evidence-based solutions to critical healthcare problems. Graduates will be eligible to take the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) certification exam, ensuring they are well-prepared for advanced roles in nursing.

Application Deadline

The preferred application deadline for the Fall cohort is May 1. Applications received after that date are accepted based on space available until the final application deadline of July 15. 

Career Opportunities

Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management. Licensing or registration required.
