Information systems are integrated frameworks that collect, process, store, and manage data for decision-making and organizational operations.

Overview

Information Systems (IS) use hardware, software, databases, and networks to make data-driven decisions in the ever-changing business world. IS graduates possess a combination of technology and business knowledge in high demand at firms in West Michigan and across the country.

Coursework provides a solid foundation in application programming, data analytics, and problem-solving. You will study database systems, distributed computing, IT project management, networking, and system security. The curriculum also includes web development and the opportunity for interdisciplinary electives, ensuring a well-rounded education in the IT field and beyond.

The IS program stands out for its unique blend of theoretical foundations, practical experience, and cybersecurity principles to prepare you to tackle current and future challenges. Highly educated faculty with extensive industry experience, combined with access to state-of-the-art computer labs, provide relevant, hands-on learning opportunities and prepare you for leadership in the field.
