Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting computer systems, networks, and data from digital attacks, unauthorized access, and damage.

Overview

The cybersecurity minor at Grand Valley State University provides a comprehensive education that helps students gain a strong computing foundation and learn to recognize risks, implement and test security measures, investigate attacks, and defend against adversaries. The program also addresses societal and organizational issues, preparing students to apply their skills to diverse challenges in various organizations. 

Courses cover topics like:

  • Network Security.
  • Secure Software.
  • Reverse Engineering.
  • Security Policy.
  • Systems Security.
  • Risk Management.
  • Electives are offered in specialized areas like wireless networks, cryptography, cyber-forensics, and reverse engineering to tailor your experience to your career goals.

High-Tech Labs

The College of Computing offers modern, wellequipped computing facilities across both the Valley and City campuses, with specialized labs for coursework, research, and general student use. You’ll have access to Linux labs, Mac labs, hybrid Windows/Linux environments, networking and cybersecurity labs, and highperformance computing resources.
