• 19 CreditsThe human rights minor provides students with intellectual and practical opportunities to engage with contemporary political issues and social challenges.
Human rights have emerged as the ethical framework of our time, influencing diverse fields such as international politics, philosophy, health care, and various service professions. This program prepares students to address a broad spectrum of contemporary social issues with a specialized perspective.
Courses explore the political, philosophical, and legal development of human rights, the role of human rights in international relations and law, and the growth of human rights institutions and non-government organizations.
You will explore contemporary topics with local and global relevance. The program provides a solid foundation in human rights while allowing you to create your own pathways through a variety of electives. You will engage in experiential learning through study abroad, internships, and service learning opportunities, and acquire interdisciplinary knowledge and skills to make a meaningful impact on human rights issues.
