Global Studies and Social Impact

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science (B.A., B.S.)

Undergraduate Major

Allendale • Face to face • 120 Credits

Global studies and social impact (GSI) is an interdisciplinary field that explores how political, economic, social, and cultural forces interact across borders to influence societies worldwide.

Overview

GSI addresses the world's greatest challenges - food, security, climate change, human rights, religious freedom, and conflict - by placing contemporary issues center stage and preparing students to be creative, flexible thinkers within local and global communities.

You will explore problems and solutions from various academic and professional perspectives in global systems like health care, food, and economics, examining the movements of people and ideas such as immigration, human trafficking, and geotourism, and investigate cultural, religious, and gender identities and expressions.

Your course of study is planned around pressing global and social justice issues, helping build intercultural competency and interdisciplinary thinking. Hands-on learning, research, and foreign language practice prepare you to become leaders and problem solvers with well-rounded, dynamic approaches.

Students are admitted directly into this program.
