1. Advising Tips: Withdrawal Deadline and Advising Materials

The deadline date for students to withdraw from a Winter 2022 course has been extended to Friday, March 25 at 5:00 p.m. Withdrawals after this date require significant documentation and justification.

The Late Drop process outlines the steps students would need to take to request a late withdrawal. These are approved only in truly extenuating circumstances.

Students should carefully consider multiple items before making the decision to drop a class. The Decision Tree helps walk students through this process. Always recommend that students visit the Financial Aid Office prior to dropping a course.

Complete Withdrawal

Students withdrawing from all courses during an academic term must submit an electronic complete withdrawal form and forward the form via email to the to the Registrar’s Office at [email protected]. Students do not need to obtain the signature of their faculty or professional advisor on the form. The deadline for submitting a complete withdrawal form for any semester is 5:00 p.m. on the Friday of the last week classes (April 22, 2022), prior to the start of final exams. After this date, students will need to appeal for a complete withdrawal through the Academic Review Committee.

2. Outcomes of the Election

Congratulations to all of the affiliate and tenured/tenure-track faculty who were elected to faculty governance positions for 2022-23. CLAS Governance and Election webpage

Please notice that there are still several positions that are unfilled for next year, and a whole host of colleagues who will be on sabbatical next year. If you are interested in serving in an open committee seat or as a sabbatical replacement, please contact Faculty Council chair Len O’Kelly at [email protected]

3. The Health Professional and Graduate School Fair

The Health Professional and Graduate School Fair will be held in-person for the first time since 2019. The fair will take place on Thursday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Grand River Room (Kirkhof 2250). This event is designed for students interested in applying to various health professional and graduate school programs and provides an opportunity for students to ask questions, get information and make professional connections directly with school representatives. We currently have over 50 programs from across Michigan and the country registered to attend. Please spread the word to any students interested. You can view the most up to date list of registered programs on our website. Please contact Dani Lauer ([email protected]) in the CLAS Academic Advising Center with any questions.
