Nigel Armstrong, a senior majoring in electrical engineering and minoring in mathematics, dedicates his time out of the classroom to Swim and Dive Club, Omicron Delta Kappa, Cook Leadership Academy, and serving as the president of the Laker FSAE Racing team.

The FSAE Racing team allows students to design, create, and test a formula-style racecar that will eventually be taken to a designated FSAE competition. At each competition, students will have the opportunity to compete against other teams from all over the world.

As president of FSAE Racing at GVSU, Nigel has gained experience that will better prepare him for his post-college career: “[It] has enabled me to more effectively communicate with other engineers and business team members… Being involved in Laker Racing FSAE has allowed me to learn more about cars than I thought possible as well as many practical skills that could be used in the real world after college. If I hadn't joined these organizations, I feel that I would be a less-rounded person, a less effective communicator, and I'd certainly have less friends.”
