Getting involved at Grand Valley is just as important as getting to class on time, having debit-dollars, or wearing pants to class (we’ve all had that nightmare). It’s time to take your first step into a world of involvement, new friends, and having things to do other than homework. Here’s how you can get involved with the Office of Student Life!
Getting involved with student organizations is simple. First, find a student org you think is worth joining. If you have no idea where to start your first stop should be LakerLink. LakerLink has a complete list of registered student organizations and a handy search tool. If you’d rather talk to a living breathing human being instead of an unfeeling sequence of ones and zeros head to the Office of Student Life inside of Kirkhof Center. In the office you can talk to one of our friendly front desk staff who knows everything there is to know about student orgs and can help you find the student org of your dreams.
The Community Service Learning Center is a great way to get involved in programs that benefit not only you but the entire West Michigan community! Working with the CSLC will help you become an active citizen and getting started couldn’t be simpler; head to the CSLC website and register for any of their upcoming events, they have service opportunities, voter registration days, educational seminars to help you stay informed, and more! Ta-da, just like that you’re on your way to becoming an Active Citizen at GV!
Have you thought about joining Greek Life? Has the idea of having brothers and sisters bound by common duty instead of blood appealing to you? Is the sky blue? If you answered yes to any of these questions fill out the Greek Life Interest Form as a first step into the world of going Greek. You can also meet many of the chapters at Campus Life Night at the beginning of each semester, where they can tell you more about their individual recruitment process.
The easiest way to get involved with the Office of Student Life is coming to our events! All you have to do is look at a posting board and you’ll see tons of fun events to attend. If the posters are a little scarce check out the Events Calendar for the most complete list of on-campus events to attend. See you there!
