Traci Trainor

Traci Trainor is a second year master’s student studying social work. She is the financial officer of Student Veterans of America (SVA) and the team leader for Peer Advisors for Veteran Education (PAVE). SVA helps to provide social and professional connections for veterans at Grand Valley, and PAVE’s advisors reach out to new veterans in the GVSU community to ensure they have a smooth transition into their new environment.
Looking to “regain the sense of camaraderie” she felt she had lost since leaving the military, Traci got involved in SVA and PAVE. She was comforted by the atmosphere of both organizations, and they perfectly provided the friendships and welcoming atmosphere she was seeking. Traci eventually obtained leadership roles within these organizations with the intent to “ensure that incoming veterans know there is a support system available to help [with] the transition into college life”.
