The GVSU School of Communications is proud to present the 2022 James W. Carey Memorial Lecture featuring Dr. Bruce Kirchoff

The School of Communications is proud to announce our plan for the 2022 Carey lecture. This year, the speaker will be Dr. Bruce Kirchoff, a botanist from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Dr. Kirchoff has spent the last several years studying approaches to communicating technical or detailed scientific information to lay audiences in understandable ways. Partnering with The Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science at Stony Brook University and the UNC-Greensboro Speaking Center, Kirchoff has helped both beginning and seasoned scientists share their work in meaningful ways.

This lecture will help communication scholars and educators better prepare student-scientists to speak. It will help scientists to be clear. It will help us all to understand a little better exactly what's going on in our world. This understanding could make existing a bit easier, or, in some cases, possible at all!
