Laker Connections Welcome Programs
We are looking forward to your arrival on campus this fall and would like to extend an invitation for you to participate in Grand Valley State University’s Laker Connections Welcome programs. These welcomes are designed designed to introduce new GVSU students to the campus, as well as the resources and services that support their academic, cultural, and emotional well-being. These programs offer an excellent opportunity to connect with Grand Valley's dedicated and involved faculty, staff, and peer mentors, aiding in building a sense of community on campus.
The Laker Connections Welcomes (Asian Student Achievement Program Welcome, Black Excellence Welcome, Laker Familia Welcome, and Native American Maajtaadaa! Student Welcome) are programs are designed to enhance your leadership skills, help you navigate campus resources, and provide you with a community where you can form lasting relationships through meaningful connections.
- Asian Student Achievement Program Welcome will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026 and Friday, August 28, 2026
- Black Excellence Welcome will be held on Tuesday September 1, 2026
- Laker Familia Welcome will be start on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 and continue through Friday, August 28, 2026
- Native American Maatjaadaa! Student Welcome will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026 and Friday, August 28, 2026.
Whether you want to develop your leadership abilities, learn about diverse cultures, or become more involved on campus, our Laker Connection programs offer something for everyone. All new GVSU students are eligible to participate in our Laker Connection programs.
