Students presenting research

ForagerOne

Supporting Undergraduate Research through Faculty Visibility

What is ForagerOne?

ForagerOne is a digital platform that connects students with faculty engaged in research and creative scholarship. GVSU uses ForagerOne to streamline how students explore opportunities and initiate meaningful research relationships across all disciplines.

Where do I access ForagerOne?

Why should I create or update my profile?

A visible and up-to-date profile helps:

  • Increase student access to research across disciplines
  • Promote your work to a wider student audience interested in mentoring opportunities
  • Support equity by reducing barriers for first-generation and underrepresented students seeking faculty mentorship
  • Streamline communication by allowing students to view your availability, interests, and expectations directly

How does this benefit students?

ForagerOne empowers students by:

  • Making it easier to identify faculty mentors and research projects
  • Encouraging early and inclusive engagement in research experiences
  • Guiding them to faculty whose work aligns with their passions and career goals

What information should I include in my profile?

A strong profile typically includes:

  • A brief bio and summary of your research interests
  • Your availability to take on new students
  • Any skills or prerequisites students should be aware of
  • A welcoming tone that encourages students to connect with you

How often should I update my profile?

We recommend reviewing and updating your profile at least once per semester, or anytime your research, availability, or mentoring capacity changes.

Is it difficult to use?

Not at all! The platform is user-friendly and takes less than 10 minutes to set up. You can edit your profile at any time. For assistance, our office provides individual support if needed.
