Anchoring Research Badge Faculty Guide
Inspire Students to Explore Research Early
The Anchoring Research Badge offers a structured, engaging pathway for students at Grand Valley State University to immerse themselves in research, develop key skills, and cultivate academic curiosity. Whether students are brand new to research or already exploring big ideas, this badge helps them take meaningful steps toward scholarly and creative inquiry.
Faculty are vital partners in promoting this opportunity and inspiring students to get involved. Your encouragement can help students discover their interests, build confidence, and connect with the broader research community at GVSU.

- Meet with faculty, staff, and peers involved in research and creative work.
- Attend discipline-specific sessions for an inside look at research across majors.
- Participate in OURS workshops and trainings to develop foundational research skills.
- Explore events like Student Scholars Day, the Undergraduate Research Fair, and more.
