WHAT WE'RE UP AGAINST
presented by Theatre at Grand Valley
Written by Theresa Rebeck
Directed by Karen Libman
November 15 - 24, 2019
What We’re Up Against explores the ways women are both quietly and loudly undermined in male-dominated professions, and how one young architect reacts to this seemingly impenetrable glass ceiling. The New York Times referred to What We’re Up Against as “cathartic and clarifying, a map of a minefield drawn in bold cartoon colors.”
Theresa Rebeck is a prolific and widely produced playwright, whose work can be seen and read throughout the United States and abroad. She is the most Broadway-produced female playwright of our time. Her new comedy Seared premieres this summer at the prestigious Williamstown Theatre Festival and her play Downstairs, starring Tim Daly and Tyne Daly, gets its New York Premiere in November at Primary Stages. In television, Rebeck created the NBC showbiz drama “Smash,” and has written for “Canterbury’s Law,” “LA Law,” NYPD Blue,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “Dream On,” Brooklyn Bridge,” and many more. “When it comes to brilliant dialogue, challenging characters, and a bold, refreshing theatrical point of view, just two words are needed: Theresa Rebeck!”— Jack O'Brien, Tony Award winning Director, Producer, and Writer (https://www.theresarebeck.com/bio)
