Special Session: A Conversation with Hansol Choi
12:00 PM in Sherman van Solkema Recital Hall
Join us for a unique opportunity to hear from Hansol Choi, a doctoral student in composition at the University of Michigan, as he shares his personal journey as a musician and composer. Earlier in the day, his solo piano piece, written for GVSU student Sam Bergman, will receive its world premiere at the GVSU 20th/21st-Century Piano Festival. In this special session, Mr. Choi will offer insights into his creative process and artistic influences—both in general and in the context of this new work. Festival participants will be invited to submit questions throughout the morning, which will be addressed during the conversation.
