About Us
The MoneySmart Lakers Program at Grand Valley State University is dedicated to empowering students with the knowledge and skills needed to make informed financial decisions. Through engaging workshops, peer education, and practical resources, the program helps students build confidence in managing personal finances, including budgeting, saving, credit, and financial planning.
By promoting financial wellness and long-term financial stability, MoneySmart Lakers supports student success both during their time at GVSU and beyond. The program fosters a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students can ask questions and gain real-world financial skills.
MoneySmart Lakers also collaborates with campus partners to expand financial education opportunities. Ultimately, the program aims to equip Lakers with tools that lead to lifelong financial confidence and independence.

Jake is a graduate student enrolled in the College Student Affairs Leadership program. He brings two years of experience as a financial advisor, assisting individuals, families, and business owners in planning for a stronger financial future.
In his current role, Jake oversees the program's development and the coordination of peer mentors while working to expand the program’s outreach. He is passionate about empowering others to make confident financial decisions and believes that everyone deserves a clear, personalized plan to achieve their financial goals.
Landon is a Senior majoring in Economics from Blissfield, Michigan, with a passion for promoting financial literacy and helping students build confidence in managing their finances. As a peer mentor, Landon is dedicated to guiding others toward making informed financial decisions and developing lifelong money management skills. Outside of academics, Landon enjoys creating art.
A fun fact about Landon is that he studied abroad in Greece, an experience that expanded his global perspective. One item on Landon’s bucket list is to visit the United Kingdom.
Francesco is a sophomore studying Finance at the Seidman College of Business. He is very passionate about money in all types of ways and is very excited to be able to help his peers gain more knowledge about their finances.
Beyond his coursework, Francesco contributes his skills as a Junior Analyst for the Seidman Investment Portfolio organization, gaining hands-on experience in financial analysis and investment strategy. Francesco plans to pursue a career in wealth management as a financial advisor after graduation, helping others reach their financial goals.
Dillon is a sophomore studying Business Management at the Seidman College of Business and is passionate about helping students develop confidence in their finances and enjoys supporting his peers as they develop strong money management skills. Beyond the classroom, Dillon will pursue an internship in business development within investment banking, gaining hands-on experience in deal sourcing, relationship building, and professional communication.
He enjoys lifting weights, running, and has a passion for music. Dillon hopes to become a salesman after graduation.
