Michigan World Language Association 2019 Annual Conference
Grand Valley Modern Languages and Literature
faculty attended the Michigan World Languages Association annual
conference in Lansing on October 24-25, 2019. Mike Vrooman (Spanish)
is President of the organization. Bret Linford (Spanish) led a session
on "University Students' Perspectives on World Language
Learning." Gisella Licari (Italian) presented on "Dentro
l'arte: A Journey into Italian Language and Culture Through Art."
Janel Pettes Guikema and Carol Wilson-Tiesma (French) discussed
"Community-Building in the Foreign Language Classroom: Promoting
a Can-Do Mindset for Mental Health." Additionally, Janel Pettes
Guikema was awarded the George J. Joyaux Post-Secondary Educator Award.
