Grand Rapids Sister Cities Project: Perugia, Italy
Grand Rapids Sister Cities International (GRSCI) is a non-profit organization that works to build relationships between Grand Rapids and its sister cities. We do this by promoting understanding and mutual respect through:
- Exchanges in culture, art, education
- Community development
- Economic development
Perugia is the capital of the province of Umbria. It was founded in the sixth century b.c.e. and is now home to around 150,000 people. Elements of Etruscan, Roman, Medieval, and Renaissance history and culture make Perugia the city it is today.

Il Geranio (the geranium) is GVSU's Italian Club that explores, enjoys and shares the Italian culture. We aim to preserve the Italian culture by educating others on the Italian heritage, as well as, emphasizing the importance of tradition and authenticity in order to pave the way for future generations. Stop by a meeting for some great food, study abroad opportunities, and all things Italian! You don't have to be Italian or know the language to join the club-if you appreciate the culture, enjoy the food, or love the language, come check us out!
