New Voluntary Benefits
Life Insurance Add-ons
New for 2025, faculty and staff can elect additional life insurance coverage:
- Accident Insurance provides financial assistance for a covered accidental injury.
- Critical Illness Insurance provides a lump-sum benefit paid directly to you and can be used to help offset the direct and indirect expenses associated with living with a condition, such as a heart attack, stroke, cancer, major organ failure, or other medical events. It protects in times of financial and emotional stress associated with the critical illness. The benefit does not coordinate with any other coverage and is not dependent upon the actual cost of care.
- Hospital Indemnity Insurance provides financial support if you are admitted or confined to a hospital or other facility for a covered injury, sickness, or childbirth, lasting 20 consecutive hours or more. Benefits are paid in a lump-sum, and the admission must occur after your coverage becomes effective.
Pet Insurance
As a GVSU faculty or staff member, you have the opportunity to sign-up for pet insurance at a discounted rate. Follow this guide to enroll in voluntary pet insurance with Spot.
Individual Dental Plans
All Visiting Faculty and Adjunct APs who are currently ineligible for dental coverage through GVSU will now have the option to enroll in a personal dental plan through Delta Dental. Please note this is NOT available for employees that are eligible for the GVSU Dental Plan.
