Welcome to Holton-Hooker Learning & Living Center
Holton-Hooker is home to cluster-style units for first-year and honors students. Like traditional-style, cluster-style fosters a sense of community, and residents quickly form relationships. It’s common to see room doors propped open, hear music playing, residents chatting across the hall, and hanging out or studying in the lounges. This building has community-style bathrooms but offers lockers, private shower rooms, and fewer students per bathroom than traditional-style. Holton-Hooker is located on North campus near Fresh Food Co., Fuel, Kleiner Commons, the tutoring center, and Mackinac Hall, where most freshmen have classes. Cluster-style living encourages residents to build a community by connecting with their floormates and attending programming events and other campus events. Holton-Hooker Learning & Living Center is also home to classrooms, meeting space, and Einstein Bros. Bagels, allowing students to focus more on classes and socializing in their space.
Resources
Meet the Staff
Resident Assistants (RAs) are sophomore-level or higher, undergraduate and graduate students who live on-campus. There is at least one RA on every floor of each living center. They contribute to a positive community living experience by serving as a campus resource for first-year students, and by coordinating social and academic activities for residents. RA staff members serve in the HRL duty rotation and are extensively trained in crisis management, facilities management, campus policies/student code of conduct, and student development.
Community Directors (CDs) are professional, live-in staff members. They assist in the daily operations of residential communities. These operations include administrative duties, managing conduct, supervising an RA staff, and providing support to residential students. CD staff members serve in the HRL duty rotation and have experience in crisis management, facilities management, campus policies/student code of conduct, and student development.
