History Day


2025 MICHIGAN HISTORY DAY REGION 4 - Saturday, March 15, 2025

2025 THEME: Rights and Responsibilities 

There are 11 different districts that participate in the Michigan History Day® program. Winners of these district competitions move on to the Michigan History Day state final competition, which is scheduled each year in April.

Annotated Bibliographies for all entries by—Monday, February 24, 2025

Papers, Websites, and Documentaries entries received by— Monday, February 24, 2025

Registration fee ($10 per student)
Registration fee deadline is February 21, 2025

Please also include the invoice provided by the registration page with your check. On the check's memo line, please write: History Day 2025

Region 4 will follow the same submission requirements as HSM’s state requirements.

·         We are asking for the Process Papers and Annotated Bibliography by Monday, February 26 for all entries. Students may continue to revise both up until the contest and expect the judges to ask them what changes they may have made.

·         The entries that we need by February 27 are Papers, Websites, and Documentaries. The judges will have an opportunity to evaluate these entries in advance.

·         Materials will be submitted online through the Zfairs program, used by HSM and NHD.

·         We are not requesting photographs of Exhibits or video of Performances this year.

Apply now for the 2025 Young People's Continental Congress

Apply now for the 2025 Young People's Continental Congress. The Young People’s Continental Congress (YPCC) will provide an opportunity for student-teacher teams to study history and civics in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from July 13–19, 2025. A student-teacher team consists of one student and one teacher. 

  • To be eligible, students must be enrolled in the tenth or eleventh grade in the 2024/2025 academic year.
  • Teachers can teach grades 4-12 from any subject area. School librarians are eligible for this program. Teachers may come from any type of school (public, parochial, charter, private, or homeschool).

Applications for YPCC 2025 will close at 11:59am ET on Friday, November 1, 2024. All student-teacher teams will be notified of their application status by Monday, December 9, 2024.
