Historically Black College / University (HBCU) / Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Consortium
Our Purpose
The Historically Black College/University (HBCU) and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Consortium exists to foster collaboration, not competition, with our partner institutions. Its mission is to create meaningful pathways for students from historically marginalized communities to access real, impactful career opportunities, while simultaneously strengthening and diversifying the talent pipeline across West Michigan.
Grand Valley State University is proud to offer a range of articulated course pathways in partnership with HBCUs and HSIs. These pathways are designed to help students seamlessly pursue degrees that align with their academic aspirations and professional goals, ensuring a supportive and inclusive educational experience from start to finish.
Step One:
Students begin their academic journey at an HBCU or HSI, where they build a strong educational foundation that prepares them for continued success.
Step Two:
Through articulation agreements with Grand Valley State University, students gain access to an expanded portfolio of degree pathways that support their academic and career aspirations.
Step Three:
Students gain valuable, hands-on professional experience by engaging directly with local industries, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to successfully transition into the workforce after graduation.

"This program will push you to grow as a professional. I had to become comfortable being uncomfortable, and that was where I found growth. [Incoming students] should feel confident and know that there's already a family here to support them."
