"When I first visited Grand Valley, it felt like home."

"During my senior year of high school, I toured the Valley Campus and noticed groups of students gathered in different areas — talking, studying, and participating in campus life. That sense of community stood out to me and made me feel like I could belong in some way. That played a major role in my decision to attend."

"My sophomore year, I started working as a student tour guide, which allowed me to share that same welcoming feeling with prospective students and their families. And now, as a marketing major, I’m getting real-world experience promoting this place I love to new future Lakers!"

"I've been given the true privilege of having been warmly welcomed in my first year as a Laker. It began with the connections made through the Meijer Honors College."

"With groups like the Honors Affinity Alliance, and events like Multicultural Night, a night where authenticity is celebrated and where individuals are empowered and lifted for who they are and the strength they bring to our campus, I've been able to see first-hand what it looks like to be part of a community that empowers each other."

"It's nice to know that GV supports students in all areas both in and out of the classroom."

"My experience at GVSU is greatly improved by the wealth of resources available to students. Two resources that have been the most impactful to me are the University Counseling Center (UCC) and the Career Center!"

"The advisors at the Career Center have been vital to my success as a student. Whether I need help polishing my resume, practicing interview questions, or just brainstorming different career paths in my field, the advisors are happy and equipped to help me."

"School can be overwhelming, especially when work, extracurricular activities, friends, and other commitments are factored in. The UCC offers one-on-one counseling in addition to numerous therapy groups tailored to all kinds of issues college students face."

"Discovering Club Sports at Campus Life Night was my first opportunity to find my place at GVSU. I am grateful to have the freedom to pursue my passions like music and writing, explore new hobbies like rock climbing, get a job, and still apply myself fully to my schoolwork and my sport."
