Science Olympiad returns to the Allendale Campus on March 29 and organizers are seeking student, faculty, staff and volunteers for this signature Grand Valley event entering its 41st year.

Dozens of teams from middle and high schools from across Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon counties will compete in STEM-related events throughout the day in a celebration of science and education, said representatives from the Regional Math and Science Center, which is hosting the tournament.

Teams from 10 high schools and eight middle schools will continue on to the state tournament.

Events will be held in biology, geology, physics, chemistry and engineering and include building, lab and test competitions, starting at 8 a.m. The awards ceremony is from 4:30-6 p.m.

Organizers say volunteers are needed, even if it's just for part of the day. Faculty members are asked to encourage their students to volunteer as well.

Those interested can sign up on the Science Olympiad volunteer page. Anyone with questions can contact Jessica Sudy at [email protected].
