Faculty and staff members who have given presentations, were recognized for outstanding contributions or had their research published are detailed below. The campus community can submit a sketch online for future publication.

Shannon Owen,
director of Northern Michigan programs, was interviewed by the Petoskey News-Review for a story about the Michigan Veteran Entrepreneur-Lab (MVE-Lab) hosting a cohort in Traverse City. 

Gregory Warsen, associate professor and graduate program director for educational leadership and counseling, was interviewed by WZZM-TV about the potential impact of federal changes on local school districts.

Paul Isely, professor of economics and associate dean for the Seidman College of Business, was interviewed by FOX 17 for a story about the economic impact of recent Grand Rapids restaurant closures; and by Crain's Grand Rapids Business for a story about how tariffs will affect Michigan's economy.

Haruna Mohammed Salisu, a Nigerian journalist and speaker at Robert Mayberry Memorial Lecture, was interviewed by WZZM-TV for a story about his presentation.

Sketches
Jim Penn,
professor of geography and sustainable planning, gave a presentation, "Agroforestry Systems in Loreto and the Future: Socioeconomic Changes, Opportunities and Challenges," at the International Congress on the Peruvian Amazon in Iquitos, Perú.

Deana Weibel, professor of anthropology, gave a presentation, "Defining the Role of Anthropology in the Future of Space Tourism," at the American Anthropological Association meetings in Tampa, Florida.

Advertising and public relations faculty Adrienne Wallace, Imran Mazid, Jin Chen and Sera Choi were co-authors of an article, "Exploring Key Drivers for Embracing Artificial Intelligence," published in Public Relations Pedagogy.

Anthony Spencer, associate professor of communication studies and graduate program director, gave a presentation, "Creating Fused Cultural Spaces of Identity: Exploring Vietnam as a Digital Nomad Destination," at the National Communication Association Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

William Neal, professor emeritus of geology, was a co-author of a chapter, “Plastics in Sedimentary Processes and Rocks: The Fossilisation of the Plastic Age,” in a book, Routledge Handbook of Archaeology and Plastics and an article, “Sandmining on Our Coasts Leaves no Sand for Sandcastles,” published in Frontiers for Young Minds, Earth Sciences.

Madison Goodyke, assistant professor of nursing, was a co-author of articles, "The Perception of Social Support in Adults with Ischemic Heart Disease Reporting Varying Levels of Hopelessness," published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing; and "The Relationships among Heart Rate Variability, Perceived Social Support, and Hopelessness in Adults with Ischemic Heart Disease," published in the Journal of the American Heart Association.
