Region 12 Michigan Science Olympiad

DATE: March 21, 2026

Event Details:

  • Location: GVSU Allendale campus
  • Times: Shifts run from 7:00 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
    • Flexible Hours
  • Lunch & Snacks provided! 
  • Great STEM Experience.
  • Support the GVSU Community!
  • Meets hours requirement for education majors. 
  • No Science Experience Needed!

You may sign up for part or all of the day!

ASSIGNMENT Details:

  • The position may involve, helping with specific science events, or general tasks (such as information booths, check-in table, and impounding).
  • If you are a parent of a high school competitor (division C) you may NOT sign up to help in a division C event. The same applies to division B parents. Thank you.

On the day of the tournament, please check in at the volunteer desk in the lobby near 1179 Kindschi Hall. You will be given your volunteer button and directed to your assignment.

Volunteers, please read the requirements below before the day of event! 

Volunteer Policies

Volunteers must be 18 years or older. All volunteers will be asked to agree to our assumption of risk at the time of registration, and abide by the university COVID-19 and Adult Conduct protocols during the tournament.

FAQ's

When you arrive to campus please park in lots C, F, G, or H. 

For Fieldhouse, Recreation Center, Arena Kindschi Hall, Mackinac Hall, Padnos Hall or Manitou Hall the closet parking lots will be Lots: C2, C1, F, G1, G3, & G2.

For Cook-Dewitt Center, & Kirkhof the closest parking lots will be: H1, & H2.

You will most likely be stationed in the building of the event you selected when you choose your shift. If you haven't picked your shift time make sure to do so in the section above! 

When you arrive in the morning, check in at one of the following locations: 
Padnos Hall Room 308
Kindschi Hall Main Hall near Room 1179
If you arrive after lunch, check into Kindschi 1179.

It gets crowded so if you are able arrive early for your posted shift time.

Then you will be directed to your station. This year volunteers may be stationed in the following buildings: Fieldhouse Arena, Recreation Center, Padnos Hall, Mackinac Hall, Kindschi Hall, Cook-Dewitt Center, or Manitou Hall.

While volunteering there will be Hospitality Rooms where you can grab a snack & beverage until 3:00pm the day of MSO.
These rooms are in: 
Padnos Hall Rm 308
Kindschi Hall Rm 1179
 

For volunteers scheduled to work 4+ hours you will be provided a sandwich boxed lunch.
