In reflection of the University commitment to sustainability, Facilities Services Grand Rapids and Regional Centers has expanded the recycling program. We have increased the range of items that we are able to recycle and have placed additional containers for public recycling.

Document Shredding on Campus

Shredding services are handled by each department individually, but can be contracted through West Michigan Shredding [email protected]. Services range from stationary locked box with varying empty schedules to temporary mobile carts (locking 95-gallon) brought in for department shredding projects. Please contact West Michigan Shredding for pricing and container placement.

Private Office Recycling: Paper

We have equipped each office with a paper recycling bin, which can accommodate almost any type of paper you would like to recycle! 
***NOTE: Paperclips and staples are OK!***

Public Area Recycling: Paper + Plastic/Metal/Glass

There are large, blue multi-product recycling bins all over the City Campus! These bins have two sections - one for paper products (see list above) and the other is for plastic, metal and/or glass. In the plastic/metal/glass containers, you can recycle the following items:

  • Food Trays
  • Plant/Flower Pots
  • Squeezable Bottles
  • Prescription Bottles
  • Water Bottles
  • Soap/Shampoo Bottles

  • Aerosol Cans
  • Foil (Washed)

Glass:

  • Clear Bottles
  • Glass Jars
  • Broken Glass

Public Area Recycling: Batteries & Ink Cartridges

Most buildings on City Campus will have designated containers for spent batteries and ink cartridges. Look for the recycle areas for the appropriate containers.
