KEYS
Building keys are available to be signed out on a day-to-day basis from the Facilities Services Grand Rapids and Regional Centers department, located at 350 Bicycle Factory (201 Front Ave. SW). Keys can be picked up/dropped off during normal office hours.
Contractors may also sign Cook-DeVos Center for Health Sciences (CHS), DeVos Center for Interprofessional Health (DCIH) and Raleigh J. Finkelstein Hall (RFH) keys out from the Facilities Services desk in the lobby on the main floor of CHS at 301 Michigan NE. Same rules apply for sign-out and use.
Please be prepared to let us know who your GVSU contact is that has coordinated your work. If we are not aware of the work we will need to confirm the work with your contact before issuing keys.
PARKING
City Campus (near Fulton/131, all Grand Rapids sites except CHS/DCIH and RFH): As of Summer 2026, many GVSU parking lots on City Campus (Grand Rapids) require a pass to enter/exit. Please contact our office or the parking office to determine if additional lot passes are needed for service work (will need one pass per vehicle).
Health Campus (CHS/DCIH and RFH): If your vehicle does not have a company logo, you will need to obtain a vendor parking permit from the Grand Valley Parking Services office, located on the south side of 609 Watson SW, or if going to CHS/DCIH or RFH, you may obtain a permit from the office at the CHS lobby front desk. Please be prepared to show a valid driver's license and also to provide your license plate and vehicle info.
Please park in designated service vehicle parking spots whenever possible. Be aware that if you do not get a permit for your marked company vehicle and no service vehicle parking spots are available, it is likely that you may get ticketed by Grand Valley Parking Services.
Parking in loading docks is not permitted beyond a 15 minute loading/unloading time.
Parking permits are valuable, please lock your vehicle.
FIRE PANEL/HOT WORK
Please visit our office at 201 Front Ave SW to fill out paperwork and ask for building to be placed in “test mode.” Hot work requires fire watch and additional paperwork.
This program applies to GVSU employees and contractors who perform or supervise hot work activities in existing buildings, new construction in existing buildings, and new construction that is attached to existing buildings.
All hot work that involves using an open flame, or which generates heat, sparks, slag or other superheated materials requires compliance with the Hot Work Program guidelines and the completion of a Hot Work Permit BEFORE commencing work. If you are in need of a Fire Impairment or Hot Work Permit, or have any additional questions, please contact Facilities Services Grand Rapids and Regional Centers at (616) 331-6700.
LIFT/LADDER USE
All contractors/visitors requiring a lift/ladder to complete service on campus must bring own equipment.
SMOKING
Campus policy change effective May 1, 2025 – no smoking/vaping allowed on campus property, including campus parking lots.
MISS DIG (GVSU UTILITIES)
Please be sure to notify Facilities Services Grand Rapids and Regional Centers to digging on the Grand Rapids Campuses. The contractor or project manager will be responsible to call MISS DIG at 1-800-482-7171. Facilities Services Grand Rapids and Regional Centers will not call MISS DIG.
EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS
Text “GVSUAlert” (no spaces) to campus (226787) to receive GVSU emergency notifications. Text “STOP” to cancel. Must opt in every 6 months – reminder will be sent.
BILLING
Please be sure building/site location and GVSU contact information is clearly listed on invoice. GVSU tax exempt ID 38730135F. Email invoice(s) as a PDF format (one invoice per email) to [email protected]. Reference purchase order number on invoices if applicable.
