GVSU students engage in summer research at the Royal Ontario Museum

GVSU Geology/Geochemistry students Luke Ellermets, Lauren Phelps, and Eli VanDyke are engaged in a summer research project using instruments at the Royal Ontario Museum. They are using Raman spectroscopy to study the temperatures of metamorphism of rocks from the subsurface in Trinidad, West Indies and from surface outcrops in the Ouachita Mountains, Arkansas.  They hope to compare the formation of these two mountain belts.  Their work is being mentored by Profs. John Weber (GVSU) and Xu Chu (U of Toronto) & are supported by the American Chemical Society and GVSU-Geology Gibson Scholarship Fund.
