GVSU Laker Dance Team Announces Auditions Information

After ending the 2020-21 school year, the Grand Valley State University Laker Dance Team is excited to get started on a new season. The team will be hosting tryouts for the 2021-22 season from Friday, June 18, to Sunday, June 20, at GVSU's Recreation Center on the Allendale Campus.
The three-day-long audition process will involve a variety of elements. Day one, dancers will learn an audition routine consisting of jazz and hip hop, along with reviewing audition skills. The next day, dancers will audition in pairs of two, in front of a panel of judges. Finally, day three will contain a callback round which is followed by an individual interview and a final decision. While we strongly suggest attending live auditions, we also have a video submission option.
Being a member of the Laker Dance Team entails a season-long commitment that lasts from June to April of the following year. A normal season on the Laker Dance Team consists of performing at home football games and men's basketball games, attending nationals, fundraising, team bonding, and taking part in campus and community events. During the fall and winter semester, the team practices a minimum of three days a week with practices likely to be added as nationals approaches.
The Laker Dance Team is honored to be the winner of eight national championship titles. The team is determined to continue its legacy by seeking candidates with a strong technical foundation, commitment to hard work, and potential for growth.
