The Health Information Management Program at GVSU is selective, requires admission to GVSU, completion of a secondary application, and corresponding materials. Applicants may apply while courses are in progress. There is no waitlist for this program.

Priority Application Deadline: March 1st (for priority consideration)
Applications will continue to be accepted until all seats in the program are filled.

Application Requirements:

• GVSU Admissions Undergraduate Application - Admission to GVSU is required. Students must be admitted to Grand Valley State University prior to submitting the HIM program application.
  • Official and updated copies of ALL non-GVSU transcripts need to be sent directly to the GVSU Admissions Office
• Health Information Management Secondary Program Application (use link above). Plan to fully complete and submit this online application in one sitting as it cannot be saved to return later.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 after completing 45 college credits
• Completion of 45 semester hours prior to program start
• Grade of C or better in the following prerequisite courses:
  • Anatomy & Physiology I & II (BMS 250 & 251 or BMS 208 & 290 or approved quivalent)
  • Medical Terminology (AHS 100 or approved equivalent)
