The Health Information Management Program at GVSU is selective, requires admission to GVSU, completion of a secondary application, and corresponding materials. Applicants may apply while courses are in progress. There is no waitlist for this program.

Application Opens: October 1st
Priority Application Deadline: March 1st (for priority consideration)
Applications will continue to be accepted until all seats in the program are filled.

Application Requirements:

1. GVSU Admissions Undergraduate Application - Admission to GVSU is required. Students must be admitted to Grand Valley State University prior to submitting the HIM program application.
   • Official and updated copies of ALL non-GVSU transcripts need to be sent directly to the GVSU Admissions Office
      
2. Health Information Management Secondary Program Application (use link above). Plan to fully complete and submit this online application in one sitting as it cannot be saved to return later.
    
3. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 after completing 45 college credits
    
4. Completion of 45 semester hours prior to program start
    
5. Prerequisite Coursework. Grade of C or better in the following prerequisite courses:
   • Anatomy & Physiology I & II (BMS 250 & 251 or BMS 208 & 290 or approved equivalent)
   • Medical Terminology (AHS 100 or approved equivalent)
