Peer to Peer

Peer to Peer is rooted in evidence-based practices, initiated by school staff and embedded within a school community, and intentionally connects students with and without disabilities across the school day to promote belonging for all students. There are no prerequisites for participating in Peer to Peer. Simply put, Peer to Peer is for everyone.

Although each Peer to Peer program is different, the results are the same: improved outcomes for autistic students and a more positive, accepting school culture for all.

Differentiation and Student Output Strategies

Differentiated Output Strategies are a structured, equitable framework that offers multiple ways for students to show understanding. This framework reduces expressive load while maintaining high cognitive expectations.

Individual Student Data Collection Forms

The Individual Student Data Collection Forms provide an efficient system to evaluate student performance through data collection and analysis all in one form. The three areas targeted are Independence, Engagement, and Social Interaction since these behaviors have a significant impact on the quality of life for students with autism.

Literacy

START is identifying key characteristics impacting literacy for students with autism and developing tools that may be helpful in supporting students. While students with autism tend to demonstrate excellent word recognition and decoding skills, there are inherent challenges and impairments in the area of reading comprehension, often due to the fundamental characteristics of the disability.

Prevent Teach Reinforce Respond (PTRR)

Prevent Teach Reinforce Respond (PTRR) organizes behavior support around four areas: preventing barriers to successful engagement, teaching skills, reinforcing skills and behaviors that support success, and responding in ways that maintain safety, support regulation, and promote participation and engagement.
