University Counseling Center
GVSU Athletics has an on-campus partnership with the University Counseling Center (UCC) to provide educational offerings and mental health support for our student-athletes. Through this partnership we have designated time weekly within one of our athletic facilities for drop in sessions with a mental health professional. No appointment needed for drop in sessions and they are located in the Laker Academic Success Center Suite. We also partner with the UCC to offer annual QPR (Question. Persuade. Refer) Suicide Prevention Training for our coaches, support staff and student-athletes and the UCC participates in our annual pre-participation medical exams by providing mental wellness screenings for all student-athletes.
To learn how to schedule a time to meet with a counselor feel free to reach out to the University Counseling Center directly (616-331-3266) or discuss with a staff athletic trainer.
