Fuel Hub

The Karpanty Fuel Hub is a dedicated refueling station for Grand Valley State University student-athletes.  It offers nutritious snacks and beverages between meals to support performance and recover.  The Fuel Hub is located on the lower level of the GVSU Fieldhouse (Valley Campus) within the  Dr. D.F. Arnold Center for Academic Success.

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm

Dietetic Intern

GVSU Athletics partners with the GVSU Clinical Dietetics Graduate Program to enhance the nutritional support provided to student-athletes.  Each year, three dietetic student interns complete rotations throughout August-April, offering a variety of services designed to promote optimal performance, health, and recovery.

Examples of services these interns provide are:

  • Weekly Breakfast, Snack, and Meal Recipes
  • One-on-One Nutrition Consultations
  • Team Presentations
  • Meal Development
  • Food Samples and Demonstrations

Nutrition consultations - available individually or in groups may cover topics such as:

  • Meal Planning, Timing, and Recovery
  • Body Composition
  • Grocery Store Tours
  • Cooking Demonstrations
  • Recipe Ideas
  • General Nutrition Questions

Campus Dining Partnership

Grand Valley State University partners with Campus Dining & our on-campus Dietician to provide our student athletes with a resource regarding dietary questions and concerns. This can aid student athletes in many areas including basic nutrition education, chronic illnesses, GI problems, sport performance nutrition, weight management, plant-based eating, food allergies and intolerances, meal planning and menu development, navigating the grocery store, assessment of nutritional needs and dietary intake, building a healthy relationship with food and much more.

Replenish

The Center for Women and Gender Equity operates Grand Valley State University's Replenish Basic Needs Program. Replenish offers perishable and non-perishable food items, personal care products, household items, and access to the university's Laptop Loan Program.  

The mission of Replenish is to eliminate disparities and obstacles for student success by providing access to food and other basic needs.  The are committed to a a hunger-free campus where each student has access to the support and tools they need to be successful. 

All members of the Laker Community are eligible to access Replenish. There are no income guidelines or requirements for students actively enrolled in GVSU.

Clean Eatz Partnership

Clean Eatz

GVSU Athletics has partnered with Clean Eatz, a meal prep service available to all student-athletes and athletics staff. Meals can be conveniently ordered online and delivered directly to the Fuel Hub for pickup.

There is no subscription required, and there is no minimum or maximum number of meals that must be ordered each week. All ordering and payment are completed online, and the cost per meal decreases when more meals are purchased.

How to Order:

  1. Visit the Clean Eatz meal plan page and select your desired meals.
  2. Choose “GVSU Fuel Hub” as your satellite pickup location.

  5. Complete your payment and submit your order.
  6. Your meals will be available for pickup at the Fuel Hub each Monday.

Onrise Nutrition

GVSU x Onrise

Through a partnership with Onrise, GVSU Athletics provides student-athletes with comprehensive access to mental health providers and nutrition specialists who have experience as former-athletes. This partnership promotes an athlete-centered model of care designed to support both mental and physical well-being. All services are provided virtually and at no cost to the athletes.

Student-athletes have access to the following services through Onrise:

  • Flexible telehealth scheduling options
  • Support from former collegiate and professional athletes
  • Sports performance and wellness guidance
  • Nutrition counseling and education
  • Continuous, year-round access to services
  • Unlimited therapy and psychiatry sessions
