Anthropology Club celebrates Anthropology Day
On February 16th, the Anthropology Club visited North Park Montessori School to teach 75 4th-6th grade students about Anthropology. The students included Zoya Deen, John O’Dell, Gretchen James, and Rachel Quick; faculty included Kristin Hedges, Steven Dorland, and Wesley Jackson. The program began with a large group discussion about the field of Anthropology and how to study people and culture. We discussed the four-field approach and then broken them into three groups to rotate around stations with interactive materials.
The three stations we had set up were: Linguistics (with emoji de-coding), Human Evolution (castes and ordering pictures), Archeology (breaking pots and trying to piece back together).
