The Michigan Science Teachers Association selected Katie Torkelson-Regan, BS '15, as the 2022 Science Teacher of Promise. This award is given to educators who have been teaching for fewer than five years and inspire students, use innovative teaching strategies, demonstrate the potential for science leadership, and exhibit a passion for science and teaching. Katie Torkelson-Regan currently teaches high school life and environmental science at Washtenaw Technical Middle College in Ann Arbor, where she has worked since graduating from the University of Michigan's School of Education (MA and Teacher Certification, 2018). She graduated from GVSU in 2015 and thanks the incredible Biology and French professors at GVSU for inspiring her to become a teacher.
