In 2018, Joanne Galloway, '85, did something that she had not planned and never would have anticipated! She ran for Michigan State House District 107 challenging Speaker Chatfield. It was a lot of fun and she met a lot of people! Subsequently, along with her campaign team, they have launched the Center for Change: a Northern Michigan Advocacy Group. Since mid 2019, they have been building partnerships across the state with groups such as the ACLU-Michigan, Clean Water Action, Michigan Education Justice Coalition, and 482Forward. Their mission is to educate and empower their neighbors for collective progressive advocacy. They are centered around seven task forces: Water, Climate, Connectivity, Healthcare, Education, Renewable Energy, Family/Social Services. They have been granted funds that have allowed them to hire Joanne as Executive Director and a Communications Director. They recently launched their first marketing campaign centered around getting thier infrequent voters for the 2020 General Election. You can read more about C4C, Joanne and her team at c4cmi.org
