After four years of writing it, Andrea Lemieux, '03, took their blog and wine tasting business: The Quirky Cork, and published their first wine book: The Essential Guide to Turkish Wine.
The Essential Guide to Turkish Wine is the first book of its kind to familiarize wine enthusiasts with the unexplored world of Turkish wine. Combined with the popularity of country and region-specific wine books and the growing interest in fringe and emerging wine countries, it's time to give Turkish wines the attention they deserve.
Offering a plethora of new grapes for wine lovers to explore, the Turkish wine industry is emerging as a real player in the region. And yet, many people are still completely unaware that Turkey makes wine at all; let alone that it is one of the oldest winemaking countries on the planet.
Written by a wine loving expat living in Turkey, The Essential Guide to Turkish Wine is written in a friendly and casual voice and is intended for everyone from the wine neophyte to those in the industry. Through narration, photography, and unique graphics, The Essential Guide to Turkish Wine:
- presents readers with an overview of Turkey's long winemaking history and traditions;
- takes readers through the state of the wine industry in modern Turkey;
- provides comprehensive descriptions of native Turkish wine grapes;
- tells the unexpected story of Turkey's emerging and classic wine producers;
- provides winery contact information for anyone wishing to visit;
- suggests places to drink and buy wine in Istanbul; and more!
