Harry Coffill

After 31 years of shaping young minds, Harry Coffill ('04) has taken a final bow from K-12 education. When a 2019 roof collapse hit Godfrey-Lee High School, Mr. Coffill turned disaster into opportunity relocating the library to the heart of the school and creating a vibrant community hub that earned Michigan's 21st Century Model School Library award. He also broke new ground by partnering with Kent District Library to launch the district's first library for an alternative high school. Guided by a mission to build collections where every student sees themselves, and fueled by a lifelong love of the arts, he quite literally ended where he began directing Alice in Wonderland in 2004 and again in 2023 after directing more than 25 productions at Godfrey-Lee and East Grand Rapids Public Schools. Now at the Grand Rapids Public Library, he's turning the page toward retirement, travel, and whatever adventure comes next.
